Columbus mistook a school of manatee for mermaids in 1492 while in the Gulf of Mexico. A very common blunder by seamen that were out on the water a little too long in those days. Here's a mermaid that we have created to celebrate the warm waters that surround so many of our southern shores. A warm coastal breeze is lifting her hair as she blows into a conch shell.
